summery (much ado about nothing)

in this book there was a war inwhich benedick and claudio were one of the fighters in the battle and beatrice was disrespecting benedick to the messenger, talking bad about benedick saying that he didn't kill many in the war it was only claudio that did the killing. then benedick arrives and they both start quarelling with each other. don pedro and claudio holds a conversation inwhich claudio tells don pedro that he is in love with hero, and benedick tries to onbvince claudio that being a single man is the best thing to be and he also states that he would never get married. but don pedro tells claudio that he would help him win hero's heart. then after don pedro leaves claudio asks benedick how he feels about beatrice, inwhich he states that he hate her.

much ado about nothing

in the movie, the character Don Pedro is a black man and is very well respected while Don John his brother is a white man who is a vey quiet. Leonato is looking man with Hero as a daughter and Beatrice as his neice. Beatrice in the movie acts very ''boyish'' because in the movie we see her climbing a tree. we see in the begginning that Hero and Claudio likes each other because they stare at each other sweetly. Benedick we see is a very handsome man and is teasing Beatrice in a smart way. Hero is a beautiful character that attracts Claudio at first sight.
while in the book there is hardly any differences since the characters actually say word for word in both book and movie. the only thing is that in the movie we can see the actual faces of the characters and know that it is a black man who played the role of Don Pedro. also in the movie we see that the men are not scornful of each other since they all bathed together and helped dresses each other, and this was the same for the females. for the music it was very soothing and tranquil and it helped to paint a picture of what was yet to come, and the music sounded very ancient and in the 50's.

letter to editor

Editor of the Daily Observer

Dear editor of the daiy observer,
I am a citizin of Antigua and Barbuda, who witnessed an attact on Brother Man from his fellow neighbors , inwhich he was stoned and beaten. This kind of act is outrageous and absurd, especially since this man John Power is a kind and giving and religious man who only seeks to do good by his people and by god, and anyone who was a part of this act should be ashamed of themselves.
We as a society look down on the rasta farians because we do not understand their ways. The way they dress, eat and wear thier hair are confussing to us so we tend to lash out on them freviously. This should not be the case since they have not comitted a crime and have not bothered anyone physically. We also as a society must live as one and accept everyone including rasta farians for who they are. Everyone has different believes, values and lifestyle but does that mean we must treat them with less respect? i think not! Rasta farians do not deserve to be treated any differently from others. a word to the wise is to treat others as you would have them treat you.
I close my letter and hope that people would heed my word and start treating everyone, includind rasta farians as one.
sincerly
Paula Simon

work for narrative techniques

some narrative techniques Roger Mais uses in the book Brother Man are forshadowing, flashback, oniscient poit of view, imagery and motif.

Roger Mais develope charaterisation bycreating images of the characters' attitude towards other characters, for example papacita acts towards girlie always beating her and troubling minette shows that papacita is an and ubfaithful man. alsohe also descibes character by using imagery becauce we know that brother man is a rasta farian because in the book it stated that he wore locks.

the setting is the Lane

some themes are love, jealousy, hatred, obeah, greed and religion.

some plots in thisbook are papacita alwaya abusing girlie emotionally and physical and being unfaithful , inwhich he is troubling minette and then he left girlie so bacause of this she ended up killing him.
aslo another plot is when papacita always troubling minette but she never took him on becuase she was interested in brother man so papacita made cordeila set up brother man so he could go to jail so that he can have minette all to himself.

foreshadowing comes in play in this book when Bra Ambo came to brother mand for help to hold some obeah equipment from the police but brtoher man did not assist him because obeah goes against his believes and becausec of this the two would never have a good relationship in the future.

flashback comes into play when brother man thinks back to his female companion when he was in love and she betrayed him.

brother man 3rd nov 2010

there was conflict between brother man and minette because minette wanted brother man sexually and brother man only saw her as a daughter and minette continued to persist brother man and because he did not take her on minette became frustrated and therefor caused conflict internally.
there was conflict between cordelia and jasmina because they got into an arguement because cordelia framed brother man for having counter fiet coins and jasimina found out about it and confronted her sister which lead to cordelia killing herself.

internal conflict is conflict that occures in the mind ( emotionally and mentally). while external conflict is when there is conflict physically.

three types of irony are: tragic, situational and socratic.

some irony in the book is when that in the book

Roger Mais (August 11, 1905 Kingston−June 21, 1955 Kingston) was a Jamaican journalist, novelist, poet, and playwright. He was born to a middle-class family in Kingston, Jamaica. By 1951, Mais had won ten first prizes in West Indian literary competitions. His integral role in the development of political and cultural nationalism is evidenced in his being awarded the high honor of the Order of Jamaica in 1978.Roger Mais died from cancer in June 1955 at age 49, just weeks after his third book, Black Lightning, was published.

Critics

critics say, he may be not as well known as those national heroes, but Mais had a major social impact as an author and painter. In fact, he can be considered Jamaica's version of Jack Kerouac, the American who influenced the Beat Generation of the late 1950s.
