Dogberry is an officer in which he sets men in front of Leanato's house because of the wedding that would take place the following day. Humor is brought out when dogberry and verges due to lack of education, and vocabulary skills they use words in the wrong context or sometimes put words that mean the opposite that they want to say. the misuse of words leads to a reaction of humor on the part of the reader.
We see the misuse of words in act 3 scene 3 " you are thought here to be the most senseless and fit men" in this quote senseless was used wrong inwhich the right word should have been sensible. also Dogberry and his ridiculous follower Verges brings out laughter to the viewer in the movie when the are riding a "horse" which is indeed invisible...
also while riding this invisible horse they make noises that the hoofs of the horse would make. furthermore the facial expressions when they talk brings further amusement to tthe views of this play. dogberry constant nagging of the perpetrators when they are captured and when he (dogberry) is accused of bieng an ass, brings joy and humor in the hearts of the both reader of the play and the viewers of the play.
to conclude, even though Dogberry and his constables are just minor charaters in this play, Much Ado about Nothing, they mostly contribute to the humor in the play which is vital in any comedy.
